19 proposals submitted for Northern Area re-leaguing

Share

There were 19 proposals submitted for the Northern Area re-leaguing meeting that will take place on Thursday in Santa Barbara, according to Tony Diaz, an assistant principal at Oxnard Pacifica who’s running the meeting.

The big question is what to do with St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian after they won an arbitration decision over the Southern Section moving them back into the Northern Area.

Oaks Christian wants to join the Marmonte League for all sports. St. Bonaventure would like to be in the Marmonte League for football only. Also Camarillo figures heavily in the decision making. Will the Scorpions join the Marmonte League, remain in the Pacific View or join a new Camino League?

Among the proposals is one from Westlake that would have a football only Marmonte League made up of Newbury Park, Moorpark, Oaks Chrstian, St. Bonaventure, Thousand Oaks and Westlake. And a non-football Marmonte League of Newbury Park, Oaks Christian, Royal, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Westlake.

Moorpark doesn’t want to stay in the Marmonte League, so that’s another issue to be resolved.
