Baseball: Los Alamitos hands Redondo its first defeat

Redondo came into Saturday’s semifinals of the Redondo tournament against Los Alamitos with a 20-0 record. The Sea Hawks ended the day at 20-1 after an 8-4 loss to the Griffins.

Pitcher Danny Zimmerman had control issues, and Los Alamitos took advantage. Mark Stanford hit a two-run home run. Kye Mora finished with two hits and four RBIs. Josh Agnew also had two hits.

Gahr 10, Lakewood 6: Six Gahr pitchers combined for a two-hitter. Michael Perez had two hits and three RBIs. Oscar Carvajal added two hits in the Redondo tournament semifinal.

La Mirada 2, Marina 1: David Olson got the pitching win and Dante Mancia got the save.

Westlake 8, Sun Valley Poly 2: Tyler Flores hit a grand slam for the Warriors. Grant Bunker had two htis and scored three runs. Adam Hess added two hits and two RBIs.

Narbonne 4, San Fernando 1: Jonathan Saldana had a single and double and scored the tying run in the seventh for Narbonne. Marco Barrera had the pinch-hit go-ahead RBI single. Bladimir Becelinof threw five innings of scoreless relief.

Banning 10, Bell 3: Stwart Garcia had four RBIs, including a bases loaded triple. Adrian Cobos had two hits and threw five innings.

Roosevelt 11, Sylmar 1: Isaac Lopez went four for four and Gabriel Jimenez had three hits and three RBIs. On Friday night, Roosevelt took control of the Eastern League with a 13-7 win over Bell. Jiminez had three hits and three RBIs.

Kennedy 3, El Camino Real 2: The Golden Cougars, in first place in the Valley Mission League with an 8-0 record, picked up a win over West Valley League power El Camino Real. Adrian Campos picked up the pitching victory. Luis Campos got the save. Jerry Aguilar had an RBI for the Golden Cougars.

Granada Hills 22, Dorsey 6: Chris Murphy hit two home runs and Moses Odeh and Nick Fuentes added home runs for the Highlanders.

Chatsworth 5, Golden Valley 1: Thomas Gutierrez struck out seven and threw a complete game for the Chancellors. Nick Henry had two hits. Trace Eldridge had a two-run double.

Valencia 5, Esperanza 1: Chris Cruz allowed five hits and six innings. AJ Medina had two hits.

Calabasas 5-6, Santa Fe 4-3: The Coyotes swept a doubleheader. In the first game, Parker Brahms had two hits and two RBIs and Max Sonnenberg had two hits. In the second game, Josh Caplan contributed three hits.

Newbury Park 10, Oxnard 3: Jake Miller had three hits to lead the Panthers.

Mira Costa 16, Malibu 3: Reese Alexiades and Will Proctor hit home runs for Mira Costa.

Birmingham 10, Verdugo Hills 0: Aiden Medina threw five innings of shutout ball. Matt Garcia had two hits and four RBIs. Jorge Navarrete added two hits and two RBIs.

Cleveland 24, Van Nuys 1: The Cavaliers (24-2) won in five innings. Nick Schmidt went three for four with three RBIs.

Arlington 7, Agoura 3: Ethan Sachs had two hits and three RBIs for Arlington.

King 6-8, Great Oak 5-5: Dylan Orick had two RBIs for King in the first game. Eddie Rivero went three for three in the second game.

Moorpark 13, Lancaster 1: Greg Dominguez contributed two hits and four RBIs for Moorpark.

Bishop Amat 4, North Torrance 1: Clarence Carter and Aidan Gutierrez each had two hits.

Cypress 11, Torrance 4: Isaiah Parra and Anthony Marquez each finished with three hits for Cypress.

South Torrance 2, Long Beach Wilson 1: Trevor Tapias allowed four hits in five innings.

South Hills 7, West Covina 4: Chris Moya homered for South Hills.
