Baseball: Sebastian Lopez of Foothill knows how to pitch

Share

Perhaps no pitching performance on Tuesday was more stunning than the one by Sebastian Lopez of Foothill.

He hadn’t pitched in a real game since April 22, the day after getting struck in the head in the dugout by an errant throw that caused a concussion.

Lopez had been throwing bullpen for two weeks, and he came through with a seven-hitter to beat Huntington Beach, 1-0. He struck out none and walked none.

He’s left handed and just throws strikes.

“He’s very efficient with his pitches,” Coach Vince Brown said.
All he has his two pitches _ a fastball and a change-up.

“He’s good at hitting spots and pounding the strike zone,” Brown said.

Lopez could be the perfect pitcher to throw at Blair Field in Long Beach on Tuesday if Foothill manages to reach the semifinals.

First up is a quarterfinal game against Agoura on Friday.
