Attendance for Thursday’s six state championship basketball games at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento was 3,735.
That’s a major drop from 7,343 last season on a Friday.
This weekend’s games are being played during Easter weekend. Usually they’re played on Friday-Saturday. Sleep Train Arena hosted an NBA game on Friday, forcing games to be played on Thursday.
Attendance should pick up today.
Action begins at 10 a.m. and concludes with Open Division boys’ final featuring the No. 1 team in the nation, unbeaten Chino Hills.
