Boys’ basketball: Appeal panel upholds decision to make Marvin Bagley III ineligible
- Share via
A CIF appeal panel has upheld the decision of Southern Section Commissioner Rob Wigod to make Marvin Bagley III of Chatsworth Sierra Canyon ineligible until next January because his transfer was athletically motivated.
The 6-foot-10 Bagley, a sophomore, moved from Arizona to Sierra Canyon in January. He appealed the Southern Section decision, with his lawyer insisting the move was for academic reasons.
The next step would be to seek a temporary restraining order in Los Angeles Superior Court next week. But that decision could have consequences for Sierra Canyon.
If an injunction is granted but a trial later upholds the Southern Section decision, Sierra Canyon would have to forfeit any games Bagley participated in.
