Boys’ basketball: Chaminade wins on buzzer beater by Dayton Doucette

You can always count on at least one Mission League basketball game being decided at the buzzer.

That’s what happened on Wednesday night when Chaminade took on Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. It was Dayton Doucette of Chaminade making a basket in the lane at the buzzer to give the Eagles a 59-58 win. Here’s the link to game-winning basket.

KJ Martin scored 18 points for Chaminade. Notre Dame received 17 points and 11 rebounds from freshman Ziaire Williams.

Crespi defeated St. Francis, 57-51. Russ Stong led Crespi with 15 points. Joey Walsh had 21 points for St. Francis. Harvard-Westlake defeated Loyola, 61-54. Cassius Stanley scored 21 points.

In the Huntington Park tournament, Fairfax defeated Sylmar, 72-23. Kirk Smith had 18 points. Taft defeated Rancho Dominguez, 78-57. Antwan January had 23 points. Rolling Hills Prep defeated West Adams, 62-21. Colin Au scored 18 points. Narbonne defeated Executive Prep, 83-54. Taft plays Narbonne on Thursday at Cathedral.

University defeated Verdugo Hills, 78-71. Kevin Javier had 14 points and 17 rebounds. Daisone Hughes added 18 points. Dylan Anderson scored 33 points for Verdugo Hills.

Sierra Canyon opened the Gold Coast League with a 76-46 win over Crossroads. Marvin Bagley III finished with 18 points and Cody Riley 14. Crossroads played without Ira Lee and Shareef O’Neal. Jacob Ray scored 16 points for Crossroads.

Paraclete defeated Quartz Hill, 69-61. Chris Gayles and Sean Larimore each scored 27 points.

Oxnard defeated Ventura, 57-42. Mason Johnson scored 21 points.

La Mirada knocked off Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 66-55.

Esperanza received 40 points from Stanford-bound Kezie Okpala in a 68-50 win over Vista Murrieta.

Alhambra defeated San Marino, 58-49, in overtime.
