Corona Centennial is playing Concord De La Salle at Sacramento State on Saturday night in the CIF state championship Open Division bowl game, and let’s just say the Huskies are coming with a large traveling party.

Coach Matt Logan broke it down this way: 126 players, 25 coaches, six crew members, eight trainers, 80 band members, two band coaches, 24 cheerleaders, three cheer coaches and four administrators.

Centennial will have to raise money, since the CIF pays $2.25 a mile for bus transportation (charter buses run around $1,500 a bus), plus cover one night stay for 65 players and 10 coaches and $30 per day for meals.

This is the first year since the bowl games began in 2006 that Southern California teams will be traveling to Northern California. Previously the bowl games were played in Carson.

There are 13 bowl games this week, with seven being played in Southern California on Saturday at 6 p.m.

The weather forecast is mostly sunny on Friday with possible morning showers on Saturday. Hornet Stadium seats 21,000 and has an all-weather turf field.

Ticket prices for general admission will be $15 in Sacramento. Ticket prices for games played in Southern California games will be $12.

Narbonne Coach Manuel Douglas, whose team also plays on Saturday in the Division 1-A bowl game, was flying to Sacramento on Monday morning for a meeting and tour of the facility. Other representatives of the teams also were scheduled to make the trip and return later on Monday.
