Football: Five Tavai brothers make an impact at Mira Costa
- Share via
Don Morrow, in his 22nd season as football coach at Manhattan Beach Mira Costa, is grateful for being able to coach five brothers from the Tavai family.
“We’re going to erect a statue for Mrs. Tavai,” he said.
All are defensive linemen. There’s Jordan, who went to Kansas. There’s J.R., who’s at USC. There’s Jahlani, who’s at Hawaii. There’s Justus, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound junior starter. And there’s the baby, Jonah, a 5-10, 230-pound freshman who’s only 13 and too young to play varsity this season but feel sorry for freshmen players who will have to face him.
Every brother is tough, works hard and is a great teammate.
Morrow only wishes there were more to come.
