Los Angeles Roosevelt is 1-8 and 0-4 in the Eastern League, but none of that matters this week. It’s Garfield week.

One of the best rivalry games in California is set for Friday night at East Los Angeles College.

There will be thousands of alumni from both schools coming for the annual East Los Angeles Classic and double homecoming activities.

Garfield is 6-3 and 4-0 in the Eastern League (the Bulldogs picked up two forfeit victories after losses).

For players, it’s a moment for them to be in the spotlight and participate in a game that’s always memorable no matter which teams wins or loses.

For the alumni, it’s a chance to see old friends and talk a little smack and eat and eat and eat.

The game will be televised by Spectrum on a delayed basis.
