Football: San Fernando-Sylmar is only two days away

Share

The fans are getting excited and the players can’t wait. It’s San Fernando at Sylmar on Friday night in a game that should decide the Valley Mission League championship.

Last season, San Fernando was upset by Sylmar in triple overtime. This time, the Tigers (5-0) intend to have a different ending.

“They know the importance of this game,” San Fernando Coach Robert Garcia said.

San Fernando will try to put some pressure on Sylmar sophomore quarterback Clarence Williams.

“They’re fast and they’re young,” Garcia said.

For San Fernando, everything revolves around senior quarterback Cristian Solano, whose running and passing dictates how well the Tigers perform on offense.

Both teams are in City Section Division II, so when they shake hands at the end of the game, it might not the last time the players see each other.
