At least two Westlake High football players who were taken into custody in Hawaii after an alleged hazing incident have been released, said N. Marzan, a metropolitan police officer in Honolulu, on Monday.
Marzan said “there was an incident” involving the team. More than 150 players were in town to play varsity, junior varsity and freshman games. The incident occurred Wednesday night at a hotel. Some associated with the program called it a scuffle between several freshmen players and seniors.
Marzan said “some players” were brought into a police station.
Officials from the Conejo Valley Unified School District are scheduled to meet with Coach Jim Benkert on Monday morning to discuss the incident.
