San Francisco Giants 3, Angels 2

AT THE PLATE: Albert Pujols, hitless in his first nine spring-training at-bats, stroked a single to center in the seventh inning. Left fielder Brennan Boesch atoned for a dropped fly ball in the first inning with a run-scoring triple to left-center in the seventh. Carlos Pena knocked in the team’s second run of the inning with a grounder to first.

ON THE MOUND: Jered Weaver went four innings in his second spring start, giving up two runs — one earned — and four hits, striking out two and walking two. The right-hander, whose fastball was clocked between 86-88 mph, limited damage in the third to one run after the Giants loaded the bases with one out. Kevin Jepsen gave up one hit and struck out one in a scoreless sixth.

EXTRA BASES: Pujols, slowed by foot and knee injuries last season, made a superb diving stop of Brandon Crawford’s first-inning grounder and flipped to first for the out. “It’s like night and day from last year, the way he’s running around and moving at first,” Weaver said. “He’s a Gold Glove first baseman when he’s feeling good and healthy, and obviously we saw it on that play.”

UP NEXT: vs. Dodgers at noon PST at Tempe Diablo Stadium. On the air: TV: Prime Ticket. Radio: 830.
