Athletics blow out Dodgers, 9-2, in spring game

Share

AT THE PLATE: Aaron Miles, competing for a backup infield spot, slugged a home run in the fifth inning — his second of the spring — and Matt Kemp added a solo homer of his own to account for the Dodgers’ runs.

ON THE MOUND: Chad Billingsley was tagged for four earned runs and four hits in 3 1/3 innings while also walking four and balking once. Blake Hawksworth didn’t allow a hit or run in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

EXTRA BASES: Billingsley’s cause wasn’t helped by third baseman Ivan DeJesus’ fielding error in the third inning that allowed two Athletics to score … Kemp also singled and is now batting .375 this spring; Miles is hitting .364.
