USC football: Marqise Lee finishes fourth in Heisman balloting

USC receiver Marqise Lee finished fourth in balloting for the Heisman Trophy.

Texas A&M; quarterback Johnny Manziel was announced as the winner Saturday night in New York in a ceremony that was also attended by Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o and Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein.

According to ESPN, Manziel received 474 first-place votes and 2,029 points. Te’o had 321 first-place votes and 1,706 points, Klein was third with 60 and 894.

Lee, a sophomore who caught a nation-leading 112 passes and is among the national leaders in all-purpose yardage, got 19 first-place votes and finished with 207 points.

Lee, the winner of the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver, said Friday that he would work toward to becoming a Heisman candidate again next season.

“I’m not going to really focus on the trophy, but I’m going to make sure I compete and do the things I need to do in order to just get back up there,” he said. “It was good just to be mentioned in that conversation.”
