NFL Monday night preview: Steelers vs. Chiefs

Story line: Otherwise known as the Todd Haley Bowl. The Chiefs fired the coach last season, and he’s now Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator. Kansas City Coach Romeo Crennel hasn’t seen his team lead in regulation this season. The Chiefs have been plagued by turnovers, and quarterbacks Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn have both suffered concussions. Haley, meanwhile, has presided over the league’s 10th-best pass offense.
Chiefs said: “The minute you start thinking about” turnovers “and playing timid, then you don’t make that throw or you don’t play the way you need to play in order to be competitive.” — Cassel
Steelers said: “We’re just trying to figure out how to use all our weapons.” — WR Jerricho Cotchery on reserves’ playing so well.
Bottom line: The Steelers are favored by 11¿1/2¿ points and the over/under is 42 points. … Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu will miss a fifth straight game because of a right calf injury. … The Steelers are the best third-down team in the league, converting 51%.
