Jonas Blixt, Ryan Moore, Brendon de Jonge share lead in Las Vegas

Jonas Blixt birdied six of the last seven holes Saturday for a five-under 66 and a share of the lead with Ryan Moore and Brendon de Jonge in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

Moore had a bogey-free 65, and de Jonge birdied four of the last five for a 66 to match Blixt at 19-under 194 in the Fall Series opener at TPC Summerlin.

Moore won the 2009 Wyndham Championship for his lone PGA Tour title. Blixt, from Sweden, and de Jonge, from Zimbabwe, are winless on the tour.

Jimmy Walker and Tim Herron were five strokes back. Walker had a 66, and Herron shot 68.

Steve Pate and Fred Funk shot three-under 69 to share the second-round lead at eight under in the Champions Tour’s SAS Championship at Cary, N.C.

Funk, the Insperity Championship winner in May for his seventh victory on the 50-and-over tour, birdied four of the last seven holes. He’s eighth in the Schwab Cup standings, 1,130 points behind leader Tom Lehman.

Pate is winless on the Champions Tour after winning six times on the PGA Tour.

Jay Don Blake and Andrew Magee were a stroke back. They shot 70.

First-round leader Russ Cochran followed his opening 66 with a 73 to finish at five under.

Branden Grace shot a three-under 69 at Carnoustie to take a four-stroke lead into the final round of the Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews, Scotland.

The South African, a three-time winner this year on the European Tour, was 20 under overall. He opened with a 60 at Kingsbarns, and had a 67 on Friday on the Old Course at St. Andrews — the site of the final round.

Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen was second after a 68 at Kingsbarns.

Amazombie upset by a 1-2 Baffert finish

Coil and Capital Account gave Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert a one-two finish on Saturday in the Grade I, $250,000 Santa Anita Sprint Championship at six furlongs. Coil prevailed by a head, with Jimmy Creed finishing third and 4-5 favorite Amazombie coming in fourth.

Coil, ridden by jockey Martin Garcia, earned an automatic berth for the Breeders’ Cup Sprint on Nov. 3 at Santa Anita. It was a small set back for Amazombie, the defending Breeders’ Cup Sprint champion.

Amazombie’s trainer, Bill Spawr, said jockey Mike Smith told him, “He just said that he needed a race. He said watch him next time. He should be five lengths better.”

The victory ended what had been a disappointing day for Baffert, who sent four horses to compete in four stakes races at Indiana’s Hooiser Park. All four came up short.

Also at Santa Anita, Obviously, ridden by Joe Talamo, came close to setting another course record in winning the Grade II, $150,000 Arroyo Seco Mile in 1:31.95 on the turf, just .06 of a second from the course record of 1:31.89. In August, Obviously set a course record at Del Mar.

Top-seeded Novak Djokovic will face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final of the China Open in Beijing

Djokovic beat unseeded Florian Mayer of Germany, 6-1, 6-4. Tsonga led, 6-1, 4-1, when Feliciano Lopez retired because a left wrist injury.

In the women’s event, top-ranked Victoria Azarenka beat ninth-seeded Marion Bartoli, 6-4, 6-2, to set up a final against Maria Sharapova. She cruised to a 6-4, 6-0 victory over seventh-seeded Li Na of China in the other semifinal.

Milos Raonic ousted top-seeded Andy Murray, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (4), Saturday to move into the final of the Japan Open in Tokyo.

Raonic will meet Kei Nishikori on Sunday after he routed unseeded Marcos Baghdatis, 6-2, 6-2 in just over an hour.

The Indianapolis Colts promoted offensive tackle Tony Hills from the practice squad to the active roster. To make room for Hills, the Colts waived receiver Kris Adams.

Parker Kligerman picked up his first career victory Saturday in the NASCAR Truck Series race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, where he used a push from Johnny Sauter take the lead and hung on as a multi-vehicle wreck ended the race under caution.

It was Kligerman’s first win in 44 career Truck Series races. Sauter, who pushed Kligerman into the lead, finished second and was followed by championship contenders James Buescher and Ty Dillon.

Funny car title contender Jack Beckman set a national record en route to his fourth No. 1 qualifying position of the season in the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Mohnton, Pa. After a dominating performance Friday, Beckman powered his Dodge Charger to a time of 4.003 seconds in his first qualifying attempt Saturday. That was quick enough to certify his 3.989 effort from Friday as an NHRA national record.
