The Ducks announced their training camp roster Sunday just before starting the first official practice of their abbreviated workout session.

The team will begin the lockout-shortened season Saturday at Vancouver and return home for their Honda Center debut Jan. 25, also against the Canucks.

The 29-player training camp roster will be pared to 23 after five practices, which will begin at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Honda Center. The workout is open to the public, with the team offering a special presale of individual game tickets for the 48-game schedule.

The Ducks finished 34-36-12 last season, missing the playoffs. They’ve been haunted by slow starts in recent years, but will work to build from the momentum of a 14-6-1 home record from Jan. 1, 2012, until the end of the season. They were 24-14-6 in their final 44 games.

The training camp roster looks like this now:

Forwards: Matt Beleskey, Nick Bonino, Andrew Cogliano, Emerson Etem, Ryan Getzlaf, Peter Holland, Saku Koivu, Patrick Maroon, Kyle Palmieri, Corey Perry, Richard Rakell, Bobby Ryan, Teemu Selanne, Devante Smith, Brad Staubitz, Daniel Winnik, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond.

Defensemen: Bryan Allen, Francois Beauchemin, Cam Fowler, Nate Guenin, Jordan Hendry, Toni Lydman, Luca Sbisa, Sheldon Souray.
