Greg Jennings joins Green Bay Packers rival Minnesota Vikings

Greg Jennings will now call Minnesota home after seven years of playing for the enemy -- the Green Bay Packers.

The free-agent receiver reportedly agreed to a five-year contract with the Vikings worth a maximum of $47.5 million with $18 million guaranteed, according to ESPN.

“It is a business, and this has happened before,” Jennings said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I’m not the first Packer player to jump on this side, so that makes it a little bit more revealing. It will be business as usual.

“Obviously it will be a little bit more meaningful to get a win over those guys than probably any game on the schedule.”

Jennings will replace Percy Harvin, whom Minnesota dealt to the Seattle Seahawks, as the team’s No. 1 receiving threat.

Jennings played in only eight games for the Packers last season because of an abdominal injury but remained productive while he was on the field catching 36 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns.

“The injury kind of hurt me last year and getting shuffled around a little bit,” Jennings said. “I can definitely still make plays and be as exciting as I was in my earlier years. And I’m not old. I’m 29. Let me throw that out there.”

Jennings has 425 career receptions for 6,537 yards -- including five seasons with 920 receiving yards or more -- and 53 touchdowns.

Minnesota also recently picked up quarterback Matt Cassel, who was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs after the team traded for former San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Alex Smith.
