Chivas USA, playing a man down, gave up the tying goal in the 80th minute Sunday night to finish in a 1-1 deadlock with the Colorado Rapids at StubHub Center.
Martin Rivero’s header evened the score for the Rapids (9-7-9) in a match that included three ejections. Chivas’ Gabriel Farfan (33rd minute) and Tristan Bowen (63rd minute) were red-carded, and Colorado’s Tony Cascio received his second yellow card in the 49th minute.
Carlos Alvarez gave Chivas (4-13-6) a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. Dan Kennedy preserved that edge in the 28th minute with a big save on a penalty kick by Deshorn Brown.
