Update: A crowd of more than 50,000 is expected at Stanford Stadium for the third matchup this season between the California rivals, both of which are struggling. The Galaxy have gone seven weeks without a Major League Soccer win – and 3 ½ games without an MLS goal. The six-game winless streak is the team’s longest since 2012; the scoreless streak is the longest since September. San Jose last won an MLS game on May 11, its only win since April 24. It is 1-2-4 since then. San Jose will be missing leading scorer Chris Wondolowski, who is playing with the U.S. national team in the Copa America Centenario. The Galaxy is missing two players to international duty: Gyasi Zardes, who is with the U.S., and captain Robbie Keane, who is playing with Ireland in the European Championships. The Galaxy game will be shown on Univision’s broadcast network, the first MLS match on that station since 1999.
