Is Terrell Owens’ NFL career over? [Poll]

Terrell Owens is once again out of work as an NFL player.

The NFL’s No. 2 all-time receiver in both yards and touchdown catches was cut by the Seattle Seahawks over the weekend, less than three weeks after signing with the team.

The Seahawks are the second team to cut Owens this year. In May, he was released by the Allen (Texas) Wranglers of the Indoor Football League and lost his ownership stake in the franchise after reportedly refusing to play in two road games and not showing up for an appearance at a local children’s hospital.

But there appears to be no such drama surrounding Owens’ dismissal from the Seahawks. The 38-year-old former All-Pro receiver made only two catches in three preseason games and simply didn’t make the cut.

“We really liked the group that we assembled. Terrell came in here and busted his tail, and he looked really effective right from the start,” Coach Pete Carroll said. “But as we just took a look at our guys that are coming through the program and growing up with us, we thought that it would be best for us to stay with those guys.”

Unlike his departure from some of his other former teams, Owens did not burn any bridges this time. Instead, he simply thanked the organization for the opportunity, via Twitter.

Still, Owens is back where he started -- without a job in the NFL. Before the brief stint with Seattle, he had been unable to generate any interest from a league team since recovering from knee surgery in October.
