Tiger Woods holds 2-shot lead after three rounds of World Challenge

Tiger Woods shot an even-par 72 Saturday to maintain a two-shot lead over Zach Johnson after three rounds of the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge.

Dealing with rain and wet grounds in the morning, then gusty winds in the afternoon, Woods’ score was 10 strokes higher than a day earlier, when he tied the tournament record with a 62 at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.

Johnson also shot 72 as both he and Woods dropped birdie puts on the 18th hole.

Bubba Watson fired a three-under 69 to move into third place at seven-under 209 overall, while Matt Kuchar was fourth after a four-over 76 that dropped him to four-under for the event.

The 18-player tournament, which pays $1 million to the winner, benefits Woods’ charities. This is the 15th edition of the event, which Woods has won five times.
