This just in: USC and UCLA ranked in AP college football poll

The Jim Mora era at UCLA officially woke up Sunday morning to news that the Bruins were back in the rankings for the first time since 2007.

UCLA’s 36-30 win over Nebraska, then ranked No. 16, at the Rose Bowl on Saturday evening vaulted the Bruins (2-0) to No. 22 in the latest Associated Press college football poll.

It marks the first time UCLA has been ranked since it took a No. 7 rating into Utah in 2007, snapping a poll-less streak of 78 weeks.

Upsets around the country caused a significant rearrangement of the latest rankings.

Alabama remained No. 1 in the AP, followed by USC, LSU and Oregon. Florida State and Oklahoma are tied at No. 5, followed by Georgia, South Carolina, West Virginia and Michigan State.

Arkansas, shocked by Louisiana Monroe in Little Rock, fell from No. 8 to out of the poll. Also dropping out after losses were Nebraska, Wisconsin and Oklahoma State.

Joining newcomer UCLA in this week’s poll are No. 23 Tennessee, followed by Arizona and Brigham Young.

Arizona, led by first-year coach Rich Rodriguez, scored a big late-night upset over Oklahoma State in Tucson.
