Boys’ basketball: Troy Roelen steps down as Mission Viejo coach

Troy Roelen has been considered one of the top basketball coaches in Orange County during his 12 years at Mission Viejo, but he said Saturday he has resigned after his school district decided he couldn’t be the basketball coach and athletic director at the same time under a new district policy.
Roelen said he chose to continue being athletic director.
