A police spokeswoman says one firefighter was grazed by a bullet when it struck and destroyed a pager-like communication device he was wearing on his belt. He was treated at the scene and did not need to be hospitalized.

The man was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. His name was not released. The medical condition prompting the visit by the firefighters also was not disclosed.
