Three people slain Saturday in separate incidents in L.A. County

Law enforcement officials were investigating several killings in Los Angeles County on Saturday, including those of two men slain in separate shootings in South L.A. and a woman stabbed to death in West Hills.

The stabbing took place in the 7100 block of Deveron Ridge Road around 7:30 a.m., Los Angeles police said. Officer Rosario Herrera said the woman was stabbed multiple times by a man and died at the scene.

A coroner’s official identified the victim as Michelle Kane, 43. The suspect was not immediately identified.

Around 11:20 a.m., Los Angeles police and paramedics responded to a shooting at an apartment building in the 2500 block of 4th Avenue in the city’s Jefferson Park neighborhood.

The victim, about 40 years old, was shot once by another man and died at a hospital, Herrera said. She said she did not know whether detectives had identified a suspect. The victim’s identity was not immediately released.

Just after 3 p.m., sheriff’s homicide detectives were called to the 11100 block of South Vermont Avenue to investigate a shooting.

A man had been shot multiple times in the torso, according to a department news release. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the release said. It said there was no information about a possible suspect.

Also, a shooting around 3:20 p.m. in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood left a man in critical condition, Los Angeles police said. Herrera said the victim, who was shot in the 3300 block of North Broadway, is believed to be in his late 20s.
