Pitt’s streak ends at Wisconsin

Alando Tucker had 32 points and 10 rebounds and Brian Butch added a career-high 27 points and 11 rebounds as No. 7 Wisconsin beat No. 2 Pittsburgh, 89-75, on Saturday, ending the Panthers’ 21-game nonconference winning streak at Madison.

The Panthers fell to 10-1. Wisconsin improved to 11-1.

College basketball: An article in Sports on Sunday said that Ohio State center Greg Oden had made his first 17 field-goal attempts as a collegian. In fact, Oden missed his first shot, then made 17 in a row.

Texas Tech 71, Arkansas 56 -- Bob Knight moved to within one win of tying Dean Smith’s Division I coaching record with his 878th victory at Little Rock, Ark. The Red Raiders improved to 9-3, and the Razorbacks fell to 8-2.

Ohio State 72, Cincinnati 50 -- Greg Oden missed his first field goal in three games, making six of seven shots and finishing with 14 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots in 27 minutes as the fourth-ranked Buckeyes (9-1) beat the Bearcats (7-3) in his hometown of Indianapolis.

Richard Jenkins of Inglewood had a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. record 57 points Friday in Cal State Monterey Bay’s 126-122 four-overtime win over Western Oregon in Arcata.
