Boys' basketball: Alemany wins its ninth consecutive game

Alemany is ending the regular season on a hot streak. The Warriors (18-6, 8-1) won their ninth consecutive game on Monday night, defeating Loyola, 75-65, in a Mission League contest. Only games left agaisnt Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, St. Francis and Chaminade are standing in the way of a league title.

Junior guard Shacquille Dawkins scored 32 points and Brandon Davis added 17. Stone Gettings had 24 points for Loyola. Crespi defeated Harvard-Westlake, 61-36. De'Anthony Melton scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds for the Celts. Mitch Mykhaylov added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated St. Francis, 47-33. Chibueze Jacobs finished with 15 points.

 In the Suburban League, Cerritos defeated Mayfair, 86-77, in overtime. Evan Leonard had 42 points for Cerritos. Kendall Small led Mayfair with 37. La Mirada defeated Glenn, 97-56.

In the Western League, Fairfax improved to 24-0 with an 83-50 win over LACES. Lorne Currie scored 17 points. Westchester defeated Venice, 71-23. Terrell Waiters had 20 points. Hamilton upset Palisades, 59-57.

In the East Valley League, Poly remained in first place with a 65-50 win over Grant. Cesar Reyes finished with 29 points. Verdugo Hills defeated North Hollywood, 64-46. Adrian Gutierrez contributed 15 points, 23 rebounds and 10 blkcs. Shane Hughes added 18 points and Carter Otte had 12 assists. Chavez defeated Arleta, 61-60.

In the Moore League, Long Beach Poly defeated Long Beach Jordan, 71-57, despite 25 points by Seth Guillory.

La Salle defeated Flintridge Prep, 65-62. Dante Fregoso had 21 points for Flintridge Prep. Isiah Spencer-Lopez led La Salle with 18 points.
