Clippers officials say no deal yet for Lamar Odom

Share

The Clippers are still discussing a trade for Lamar Odom, but as of Thursday night no deal has been reached, according to a team official who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

The Clippers are trying to land Odom from the Dallas Mavericks in a three-team trade that would send Clippers guard Mo Williams to the Utah Jazz, according to an NBA official familiar with the talks.

There have been reports that Williams had agreed to pick up the option on his $8.5-million contract for next season on Friday so the Odom deal could go through, but that is inaccurate, according to Clippers officials.

A report out of Utah also said that team’s management was unaware of a deal.

That doesn’t mean the deal won’t go through, officials said. Williams has until Saturday to inform the Clippers of his decision about whether he would exercise his option for next season.

Odom will make $8.2 million for the 2012-13 season, but the Mavericks can buy out his contract for $2.4 million by Friday.
