Forward Travis Wear sat out the final 5 minutes 24 seconds of UCLA’s 74-69 victory over Arizona on Saturday.

Wear is still struggling on an injured right foot. He played 17 minutes against the Wildcats. Whether he will be back at full strength when the Bruins face Washington State on Wednesday remains to be seen.

UCLA Coach Ben Howland said that UCLA’s medical staff “told me to play Travis 15-20 minutes. Hopefully he will be OK.”

An MRI exam on the foot Thursday revealed no damage.

“So now it’s just dealing with the level of discomfort,” Howland said.

Wear is UCLA’s third-leading scorer, averaging 11.3 points, and second-leading rebounder, averaging 5.3. He made three of six shots, one a tremendous dunk, and scored six points against the Wildcats. He also had two rebounds.

Wear averages 29 minutes per game for the depth-challenged Bruins. He had missed two games because of the foot injury.

David Wear picked up a chunk of his brother’s playing time. He had 10 points and nine rebounds in 31 minutes.

The Bruins, with an eight-man rotation, have weathered health and injury issues the last three weeks.

“One thing I pray for -- and before every practice I pray -- is for us to remain healthy,” Howland said. “I would have rather lost the game than have one of our eight guys injured.”
