The San Dimas High School girls basketball team Tuesday night defeated Baldwin Park, 77-2, at San Dimas.
The Saints ran up a 31-0 lead before Baldwin Park’s Mary Gurdian hit an 18-foot baseline shot to prevent the shutout.
Gurdian’s shot came with 20 seconds remaining in the second quarter. The San Dimas defense shut down the Braves from there on, while its offense scored freely. San Dimas Coach Bill Wakley said his team did not intentionally run up the score.
“It was really tough,” Wakley said, “your kids want to score as much as they can and I’m trying to hold it up. We didn’t mean to press that hard.”
