Agoura 66, Calabasas 56

Guard Steve Armstrong scored 28 points, 15 in the fourth quarter, to enable Agoura to improve its Frontier League record to 2-1.

Armstrong, a 6-1 senior, made seven free throws and four field goals in the final period. Agoura stretched a five-point lead into the final 10-point victory margin by scoring 23 fourth-quarter points.

Sophomore 6-2 guard Steve Ward led Calabasas with 20 points.

Calabasas is 1-1 in league and 9-6 overall. Agoura improved its overall record to 8-8.

Moorpark 62, Oak Park 52

Mike Patrick scored 10 unanswered points in the decisive fourth quarter for Moorpark.

After Oak Park had taken the lead, 46-44, after three quarters, Patrick led the Musketeers on a succession of fast breaks to break the game open. The 6-2 senior guard finished with 24 points and eight rebounds.

Jeff Magill added 12 points and nine rebounds for Moorpark.

Moorpark took an 18-5 first quarter lead, but Oak Park came back behind the play of Andy Silverman and John Knight to pull within two points, 32-30, by halftime.

Knight finished with 13 points, Silverman scored 12 and Scott Lemke added 10 for the Eagles.

Moorpark is 5-1 in Tri-Valley League play and 9-7 overall. Oak Park fell to 3-2 in league.

Simi Valley 51, Channel Islands 43 Mark Robinson scored 33 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead host Simi Valley to a Marmonte league win. The 6-5 senior forward scored nine points in a decisive third quarter in which Simi Valley overcame a 19-16 deficit to take a 33-27 lead.

Channel Island’s 6-5 senior center Sean Sisson scored 13 points.

Simi Valley is 2-1 in league and 8-5 overall. Channel Islands fell to 1-2 in league and 7-6 overall.

Alemany 71, Notre Dame 44

Four Alemany players scored in double figures as the Indians overwhelmed visiting Notre Dame.

Travis Bargeman scored 19 points, Dave Djolakian and Rick Giese added 13 points each, and Fernando Lopez scored 10 for Alemany.

Alemany improved its Del Rey League record to 4-1. The Indians are 14-43 overall.

Crespi 51, St. John Bosco 45

Nobody told Crespi High that winning back-to-back Del Rey League titles would be easy.

The Celts, ranked eighth in the latest Southern Section Big-5 poll, defeated a spirited and hot-shooting St. John Bosco team, 51-45, Friday night at St. John Bosco.

Crespi, which improved its record to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in league, used its defense to key a 13-6 fourth-quarter rally and break open a close ballgame. The Braves, who were shooting 65% from the field after three quarters, then saw a one-point edge disappear.

Forward Steve Tanin, who was six of six from the field, finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, while teammates Joe Campanella and Brian Capp added 11 points each for Crespi.

Braves’ forward Mike Ritter hit 10 of 12 shots for 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Steve Blastad contributed 16 points.

St. John Bosco is now 6-9 overall and 0-5 in league.
