All-Southern Section--Denise Kuhn and Kim Hicks, who led Wilson High School to the Southern Section semifinals, have been chosen to the all-CIF 4A girls’ volleyball team. Hicks, a sophomore, received a first-team berth. She was the Moore League’s Most Valuable Player. A senior, Kuhn received a spot on the second team. No other area players were honored by the Southern Section.

Junior High Track--A 101-point effort by Hoover Junior High School ninth-graders averted a sweep by Rogers Junior High at the Long Beach Unified School District junior high school boys track all-city finals last week. The seventh-grade team from Rogers won its division with 84 1/2 points, while the eighth-grade team also took first with a score of 63.
