Buckley High’s girls softball team won its debut contest against St. Genevieve, 13-1. The game ended after only five innings, because of the more than 10-run lead.
All the Griffins really needed were the three runs scored in the first, with an RBI by Robin Weisstein and two unearned runs after Debbie Woldman sent a shot to the outfield, which was dropped.
Buckley went on to score six more in the second inning and four more in the fifth.
