La Quinta High School forward Melissa Fejdasz, who was double-teamed throughout and limited to seven points, made a 10-foot jump shot with 12 seconds left in overtime Saturday night, and teammate Kim Takayama added an insurance free throw with :02 remaining to lift the Aztecs to a 51-48 victory over Lompoc in a Southern Section 2-A quarterfinal game in the Braves’ gym at Lompoc.

Top-seeded La Quinta (24-4) will play Cajon in Tuesday’s semifinals. The Aztecs trailed by as many as 16 points in the second period and trailed by 11 at halftime, but they limited the Braves to 15 points in the second half to pull even, 44-44, at the end of regulation.

Kim Takayama, who finished with 18 points, and Pam Waltz, who added 12, combined for 10 of La Quinta’s 16 fourth-quarter points, as the Aztecs made up a 9-point deficit. Waltz’s jumper with 23 seconds left in regulation tied the game, and Lompoc was unable to get a final shot.
