San Diego Prep Baseball : Patrick Henry Rides 11-Run Second to Beat Mount Miguel

Share

Bob Imlay has been the baseball coach at Patrick Henry High School since the school opened in 1968. And he says he can’t remember the Patriots ever having an offensive display quite like the one they had against Mount Miguel Tuesday afternoon.

In a Grossmont/Metro/City Tournament game at Spring Valley, the Patriots erupted for 11 runs in the second inning and went on to beat the Matadors, 14-6. Henry shortstop Scott Middaugh had two solo home runs and two singles, and left fielder Doug Owens drove in three runs. Center fielder Norman Whitehead hit a three-run homer in that productive second inning for Henry.

“Offense is our strength,” Whitehead said. “All of our players are capable of hitting well over .300. We can score runs on anybody.”
