Baptist Doesn’t Have a Prayer Against Pastor and Cal Lutheran in 24-8 Loss

Dan Pastor, a junior transfer from Antelope Valley College, was apprehensive before starting his first game on the mound for Cal Lutheran on Thursday at L.A. Baptist.
“I was hoping we would come out hitting,” Pastor said. “I figured with a decent lead, I could challenge hitters and maybe go all the way.”
Pastor’s Kingsmen teammates came out hitting, all right, and didn’t stop until the score reached 24-8 in the non-conference game. So, despite allowing 11 hits and 6 earned runs, Pastor got his first win and first complete game for Cal Lutheran.
The Kingsmen pounded four Baptist pitchers for 18 hits, including a school-record six home runs. Catcher Todd Dewey and third baseman Fred Perez each slugged two homers and shortstop Greg Nocero and right fielder Derrick Evans each had one.
Evans achieved another Cal Lutheran milestone, becoming the first Kingsman ever to hit for the cycle. He also drove in five runs.
