San Jose State Avoids Sweep With Victory
San Jose State salvaged the final game of its three-game series against UC Irvine with a 12-3 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. baseball victory at Anteater Stadium.
Center fielder Earl Boles went 5 for 6 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Spartans (14-19 overall, 8-7 in the PCAA). Terry Adams (4-3) pitched the 7 innings to earn the win. He allowed three unearned runs in the fifth.
David Trussell took the loss for Irvine (16-13-1, 5-3), which swept a doubleheader from San Jose State on Saturday.
