Charlie LaCommare of Bell Gardens was named Coach of the Year. LaCommare guided a team, which had been given little chance to succeed, to a 16-9 season. The Lancers won 10 of their last 11 games to make the playoffs.

Kurz, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound senior, also averaged 10.5 rebounds for a 17-7 Schurr team that reached the playoffs.
