Junior College HIGHLIGHTS : Moorpark Holds Off Hancock

Outfielder Jeff Smith provided the key blow as Moorpark Community College defeated Hancock, 6-1, Thursday in a Western State Conference game at Hancock.
Smith blasted a three-run homer in the seventh inning to pace a five-run Moorpark rally that broke open a 1-1 game.
Tim Nelson (3-0) pitched eight innings and earned the win for Moorpark. Jim Russo pitched the final inning and was credited with a save.
Dan Russell and Sean Lang had two hits apiece for Moorpark.
Jose Delfin had three hits for Hancock, including a solo home run.
Moorpark, 8-4 in conference, is in second place behind Oxnard (10-2).
Valley 18, Antelope Valley 12
Valley College pounded out four home runs en route to a Mountain Valley Conference win at Antelope Valley.
Outfielder Jim Gieseke hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs for the Monarchs. He had four hits in the game.
Tim Riley slugged a three-run homer, Ron Dale hit a two-run homer and Tom Lenihan added a solo home run. Each drove in three runs in the game.
Danny Telles pitched five innings and earned the win.
Valley is 6-5 in conference. Antelope Valley is 4-7.
