Preps HIGHLIGHTS : Buckley Defeats Faith, 4-0, on a Three-Hitter by Strong

Erik Strong won his 10th game with a three-hit shutout Friday, as host Buckley High beat Faith Baptist, 4-0, in the Delphic League.

Strong (10-4) was an All-Southern Section pick last year, as a junior, when he compiled a 14-4 record and a 1.58 earned run average.

Matt Kaufman had two hits and drove in two runs for Buckley.

Buckley is 2-1 in league. Faith Baptist is 1-2.

Providence 20, Brentwood 6

Providence scored nine in the second inning en route to a Delphic League win at Sawtelle Park.

Craig Silver, Tony Ross and Robby Holmes had two hits and three runs batted in for Providence.

Jeff Cirillo pitched five innings to get the win.

Providence is 2-2 in league.

La Salle 5, Chaminade 0

Mike Dukes pitched a two-hitter as La Salle High beat Chaminade in a Santa Fe League game at Chaminade.

Dukes struck out seven and handed Chaminade (6-1) its first loss in league.

Camarillo 4, Newbury Park 1

Scott Cline hit his ninth homer as Camarillo won a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.

Mike Chase, a junior, pitched a complete game for Camarillo, allowed three hits and struck out five.

Camarillo is 5-2 in league. Newbury Park is 3-4.

Santa Clara 3, Calabasas 0

Santa Clara collected all of its runs on four hits in the fifth inning of its Frontier League win at home.

Santa Clara is 6-2 in league. Calabasas is 3-4-1.

Simi Lutheran 8, Highland Hall 5

Simi Lutheran won a nonleague game against Highland Hall despite home runs by Ben Ford and Ricky Leifitz.

Simi Lutheran is 4-6. Highland Hall is 7-2.

Fairfax 66, Poly 61

Fairfax clinched a tie for the East Valley League track championship with the win over Poly.

The meet and the league championship came down to the final event of the day--the mile relay.

Fairfax won the race in 3:28:1.

Kennedy 92, San Fernando 33

Michael Pringle won the 100 meters and the long jump, then anchored the 400-meter and mile relays, as Kennedy High beat visiting San Fernando.
