Rich Shaw’s single scored Enzo Rodriguez with the winning run in the 10th inning Thursday as fifth-ranked Mission Bay High School edged University, 3-2, in a Western League baseball game on the Dons’ field.

The game marked the second time the Buccaneers (6-2, 19-4) have beaten the Dons (3-5, 12-10) by one run in extra innings. Mission Bay won the earlier meeting between the teams, 1-0, in nine innings.

“We’ve lost four games by two runs or less,” University Coach Dick Serrano said. “You can say that with some kind of breaks we could be 6-2 or even 7-1. But the good teams make their own breaks.
