San Diego Prep Baseball : Bonita Vista Wins, Moves Into Tie Atop Metro Mesa

The Bonita Vista High Schoolbaseball team climbed back into a first-place tie with Mar Vista in the Metro Mesa League after the Barons (9-3, 14-7) beat Castle Park (2-10, 3-20), 4-3, in a Metro Conference game Tuesday at Bonita Vista.

Bonita Vista catcher Kenny Guyton improved on his .450 batting average with two hits--a triple and a homer. He had two RBIs and also scored the other two runs. Guyton doubled home one run in the first inning and hit the homer, his fourth of the season, in the fourth.

Paul Harris (2-2) scattered six hits over 6 innings to pick up the win. Billy Miller came out of the bullpen to strike out the final two batters in the seventh inning to record his seventh save.

In other Metro Conference games:

Montgomery 13, Mar Vista 5--Montgomery moved into playoff contention with the win at Mar Vista High. The loss dropped seventh-ranked Mar Vista (9-3, 17-6) into a first-place tie with Bonita Vista. Each school has one game remaining. On Friday, Bonita Vista plays at Montgomery (7-3-2. 14-6-2) and Mar Vista plays Hilltop (7-4, 15-7).

Chula Vista 5, Sweetwater 1--The Trojans (8-3-1, 11-11-1) scored two runs in the first and third innings en route to a victory at Chula Vista High. George Mora doubled home Brian Murray in the first inning and then scored on a throwing error. Edgar Lim singled home Mora and Darren Pudgil in the fourth inning. Murray pitched a complete game to pick up the win. Sweetwater fell to 5-7 and 7-15.

AVOCADO LEAGUE

San Pasqual 4, Escondido 3--Sixth-ranked San Pasqual improved its record to 10-1 and 19-3 with the win at Escondido High. Escondido dropped to 6-5 and 10-13.

PALOMAR LEAGUE

Mount Carmel 14, Fallbrook 10--The third-ranked Sundevils improved their record to 10-1 and 18-6 with the win at Fallbrook High. The Warriors dropped to 4-7 and 13-12.
