USD Soccer Team Beats Point Loma
James Kyle scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season, and goalkeeper Scott Huckleberry recorded his fourth shutout in the last six games to help the University of San Diego defeat Point Loma Nazarene College, 6-0, in an intercollegiate soccer match Wednesday at USD.
Bob Kaemerle, Mark Fenick, Damon Werner and Chris Duke each scored a goal and Jeff Silver added two assists to help the Toreros improve their record to 5-2-2. Huckleberry recorded six saves as USD won its fourth straight game.
USD will next take on Loyola Marymount at USD on Saturday.
In other nonconference action:
USIU 9, Cal Lutheran 0--Jeff Ward scored four goals and assisted on two others and Jon Sissons added a pair of goals and four assists to lead the Gulls to the easy victory at USIU. Goalkeepers Gary Francis and Oscar Rodriguez combined on the shutout as Cal Lutheran managed only one shot on goal in the game.
The Gulls (4-2-1), will host the USIU Soccer Tournament starting Saturday and will meet Cal State Northridge at 1 p.m. Saturday in the tournament’s first game.
