The Saints were inside Rio Mesa’s 10-yard line and had a first-and-goal situation, but had to settle for a field goal. Rio Mesa’s Aaron Nordquist then returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Rio Mesa quarterback Steve Carolan threw two second-half touchdowns to Darren Romano. Rio Mesa had scoring drives of 75 and 60 yards in the fourth quarter.
