Thursday’s Highlights : Rosenkranz Passes Servite Over Fountain Valley, 26-7

Tim Rosenkranz, Anaheim Servite High School quarterback, threw for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half to lead the Friars to a 26-7 victory over Fountain Valley Thursday night at Santa Ana Bowl.

Rosenkranz, a senior, came into the game averaging more than 22 yards a completion. He hit wide receiver Nick-John Haiduc with a 42-yard scoring pass with 8:56 left in the first quarter. Rosenkranz went back to Haiduc with 4 seconds left in the first quarter for a 29-yard touchdown pass.

Servite’s Jeff Fieldhouse caught Rosenkranz’s final touchdown pass when he made a spectacular catch, leaping over Baron defensive back Dan Ramsey in the corner of the end zone with 18 seconds left in the half.

Fountain Valley wide receiver Dennis Arey was one of the few bright spots for the Barons. Arey caught 10 passes, and scored Fountain Valley’s only touchdown on a 11-yard pass from quarterback John Peart.

The win improved Servite’s record to 4-0. Fountain Valley is 2-2.

Southern Section Claremont 45, Glendora 6--Playing just two quarters, Wolfpack quarterback Dan McGwire completed 13 of 17 passes for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns at Citrus College in the Baseline League opener for both teams. His primary receiver, Travis Watkins had eight receptions for 201 yards and 3 touchdowns as The Times’ No. 6-ranked team improved its record 4-0. Glendora is now 0-3.

El Rancho 13, Santa Fe 7--With just a little over three minutes remaining in the game, Pablo Meza scored on a 13-yard run to break a 7-7 tie in the Whitemont League game at Pioneer High School. El Rancho had two backs each rush for over 100 yards. Andrian Ortega carried 15 times for 134 and 1 touchdown and Robert Garcia accounted for 111 yard on 17 carries. El Rancho is now 1-0 in league 3-1 overall. Santa Fe is 0-1 and 0-4.
