Playoff Spot May Be in Offing for Tustin-Villa Park Victor
- Share via
Tustin High School Coach Marijon Ancich should get a good indication on just how far his rebuilding project has come when the Tillers open Century League play tonight against Villa Park in Fred Kelly Stadium.
Both teams have posted 2-1 records in nonleague play and figure to battle for the third and final playoff berth in the eight-team league that is traditionally dominated by El Modena and Foothill.
Tailback David Rose leads the Spartan offense with 317 yards rushing.
Last year, Villa Park defeated Tustin and finished third. The Tillers missed a wildcard playoff spot despite finishing with a 6-4 record.
In other action, El Dorado will try to rebound from last week’s 17-10 loss to Valencia when it opens Empire League play against Kennedy in Handel Stadium. Anaheim meets Garden Grove and Burroughs of Burbank faces Trabuco Hills in nonleague play.
