Cypress Wins Pair of Water Polo Matches
The Cypress College water polo team completed its nonconference schedule with a pair of victories Friday as the Chargers defeated Mt. San Antonio, 10-4, and Chaffey, 12-8, at Cypress.
Against the Mounties, Cypress (10-6-1) was led by Brent Parenteau, Alan Skawinski and Kevin McKee, who each scored twice. Kyle Lindo and Garth Maijala both scored four goals to lead Cypress past Chaffey.
Cypress opens South Coast Conference play Tuesday against Pasadena City.
In other nonconference water polo action:
Golden West 13, Palomar 9--Geoff Gruber scored four goals and Dave Cook, Gary Tichy and Jason Jefferies scored two times each as the defending state champion Rustlers beat the Comets at San Marcos. Golden West is now 7-2.
Rancho Santiago 14, Long Beach City 8--Mike Cornell scored six goals and Marc Young and Darin Haskings scored twice as the Dons (10-1) beat the Vikings at Santa Ana.
