Cerritos Defeats Golden West, 4-2

Cerritos College came back to defeat Golden West, 4-2, in a South Coast Conference men’s soccer match Friday at Cerritos.

The Falcons’ Juan Juarqui scored the match’s first goal 30 seconds into the first half. Golden West’s Jeff Hanover tied the score 25 minutes later. The Rustlers took the lead when Shawn Kirby scored at the 31-minute mark.

Cerritos came back two minutes later to tie the game, 2-2, on Juarqui’s second goal of the half. Francisco Posada put the Falcons ahead for good with his second-half goal. Marcelo Balboa added an insurance goal for the Falcons late in the game.

Golden West is 2-1 in conference and 4-6-3 overall.

Irvine Valley College 2, Fullerton 0--Irvine Valley (3-0) continued to play well in its first season of South Coast Conference play. Scott O’Dell scored first for Irvine Valley with a header in the first half off an assist by Darren Roberson. Kris Noffke scored on an unassisted breakaway goal in the second half. Irvine Valley has outscored conference opponents, 10-2. Fullerton is 0-3 in conference play.
