Thousand Oaks Needs Win to Share Lead

Share

The Thousand Oaks High football team will shoot for a share of the lead in the Marmonte League when it plays host to Channel Islands High tonight at 7:30.

The Lancers, with a record of 2-0 in league and 4-2 overall, are half a game behind Simi Valley. Simi Valley, which is 3-0 in league and 5-1 overall, plays host to South Torrance in a nonleague game Friday night.

Thousand Oaks barely remained in the race for a league championship by pulling out a 15-14 win over Newbury Park last week.

In that game, Lancers quarterback Dan Nagelmann completed four passes to Kevin Mederios in the last two minutes. Mederios’ final two receptions were good for a touchdown and a two-point conversion that provided the margin of victory.

Thousand Oaks normally sticks to its strong rushing game, led by sophomore running back Marc Monestime, who has 598 yards on 113 carries this season.

Channel Islands defeated Royal High, 28-0, last week to improve its record to 2-1 in league and 3-2-1 overall.
